Double Entry Accounting System Software (DEAS)

The Double Entry Accounting System software of Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration (HIPA) has won the prestigious National eGovernance Bronze Icon Award in the 10th National eGovernance Conference held at Bhopal , Madhya Pradesh on 2nd February 2007. The software of Double Entry Accounting System (DEAS) has been designed and developed by National Informatics Centre, Himachal Pradesh State Centre, Shimla through NICSI. The Director, HIPA and officers from NIC HP State Centre visited Bhopal to receive the above award in the National eGovernance Conference.
The Double Entry Accounting System (DEAS) SW is a computerised solution for maintenance of accounts on double entry system of accounting for development blocks and generating all mandatory reports like cash account, trial balance, ledgers, receipt and payment accounts. The financial transactions are captured in the form of vouchers and linked with development works being executed through panchayats. The SW is one of its kind in Government set-up, meeting the requirements of double entry accounting system software and can be used in any other department/ PSU which is following double entry accounting like cooperative societies. Besides replication in all blocks of RD department, the panchayats are following double entry accounting system and can use the same software.
The whole project of computerisation is being funded by the Department of Information Technology, GOI as a pilot project for development, training and implementation in 2 pilot blocks of Mashobra (District Shimla) and Kandaghat (District Solan). The SW will also be implemented in all 70 panchayats of the two pilot blocks.
Himachal Pradesh has been conferred a total of 7 National eGovernance Awards for various e-governance initiatives. This is the fifth year in a row that Himachal Pradesh has won these awards, since their institution by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances, Government of India in the year 2002. These awards are given in the National eGovernance Conference organised by the Department of Information Technology, GOI and DARPG, GOI in different States. This year the 10th National eGovernance Conference was held at Bhopal , Madhya Pradesh from 2-3 Feb 2007.
All the Award winning projects have been designed and developed by the National Informatics Centre, Himachal Pradesh.
